Hwange National Park is in west Zimbabwe. Its grasslands and mopane woods are home to large elephant herds, lions, and African wild dogs.
In the northwest, animals gather at Mandavu and Masuma dams, where there are concealed lookouts.
Bumbusi National Monument includes 18th-century ruins and pre-colonial rock carvings. In the southeast, waterholes include the Nyamandhlovu Pan, with its elevated viewing platform.
It was home to the famous lion, Cecil, that was hunted under notorious circumstances a few years ago. Today Cecil’s legacy and family can still be tracked in the Hwange.
Renowned for having some of the largest elephant herds in Africa, as well as one of the strongest populations of apex predators such as lions, cheetah, and the extremely endangered African painted dog, Hwange National Park will absolutely amaze you with its rich diversity of wildlife.
