Situated on the border with Botswana close to the Kalahari Desert, Madikwe Game Reserve is the fifth-largest game reserve in South Africa. As one of the lesser-known reserves, this hidden gem is regarded as one of the best conservation areas in Africa and offers visitors a Big 5 safari experience over 750km².
Roughly 4.5 hours drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria, Madikwe offers a number of luxurious lodges as well as community lodges in a malaria- free zone.
Madikwe is a prime wildlife reserve and safari destination with a choice of excellent luxury accommodation venues. It is one of the largest game reserves in South Africa & hosts an incredible diversity of species, offering some of the best South African Safaris.

Privately owned Tau Game Lodge is situated in the Big 5 Malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. Accessible by daily scheduled flights, or a 4 hour drive from Johannesburg.

Situated in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, adjacent to the Kruger National Park, Elephant Plains Game Lodge offers comfortable, stylish and affordable luxury.
