What To Expect

The vast Nyerere National Park is Africa’s largest stand alone national park and one of the largest in the world. The park is located in South Eastern Tanzania and was carved out from the Selous Game Reserve, a huge wilderness area in Southern Tanzania.

Nyerere boasts with some of the largest concentration of wild animals. Good numbers of big cats, such as lion, leopard and cheetah along with a myriad of other species. Nyerere is one of the best destinations to spot the endangered wild dog.

The Great Rufiji River, the largest river in Tanzania, flows through the northern part of the park and is one of the main attractions in the park. An added safari bonus in Nyerere is the magical boating safaris on the Rufiji.
